My parents would say you're a corrupting factor, but I seem to be in possession of a package of watercolor paints and some brushes. I'm fairly certain a real artist would shudder at the time they spent in my coat on the way back to the dorm.

I'll be getting new roommates. Some important heir from one of the yavanite mining countries and someone taking a lot of dance classes. The first, apparently, is younger than the second, since the dean sat me down for a good long talk about how I will be at the very least suspended if your actions bring him into danger.

Be that as it may. This branch of Paris feels very much like home to be honest, after the excitement of flying up to the Lorena Station. No need to remember a six digit code to get from place to place. The accents are all wrong, but the homesickness is nowhere near as bad.

I'll have my watercolor class for the winter semester. I fear I may end up painting what isn't white more than painting things.

Love,
James

Corruption's such an old song that we can sing along in harmony, right?

Looks like we're gonna be splashing paint on everything together when I bother showing up anyway. Call me R.

THERE we have the world's most popular lit seminar discussion, don't we?

Sure I did. And yeah, think so. That was...complex. And insane.

Grantaire, to people who don't have the dubious privilege of my company on a normal basis, but...

I may or may not be on that basis with the cause of that fuss.

Ah no. He DOES have QueeQueeg though. There's an almost wife for the poor guy. For a little while anyway. I mean geez, first date to the chowder house and all...

Something like that, sure. We'll see how it goes. I've got an extreme allergy to industry and usefulness, you see. Even Gros said so when I interned for him one summer. Boy was that one a mistake on his part.

I know more who'd argue about the importance of, you know, Art, and all of that, representations of life and truth, something something Keats on an urn, I sort of tuned it out.

And yeah that's true. I mean not in that case, really. He DID want someone to practice technique and to clean the brushes and all. But when it's not violating a contract, sure. I'm pretty generally lazy and aimless around my friends and they're fine with it up to a point.

Sounds like fun. Trust me, that's DELIGHTFUL.

I will rest easy despite corrupting you toward creating art. You never know, it could come in handy while doing accounting work. Ships can be dull and boring, and there'll be gaps between purchases, I'd assume.

I wouldn't mind a blobby tree or a deflated apple, or whatever they start you on first. What would it be in winter? A steeple with snow? I believe they use salt to mimic snowflakes.

I'm in a Turkish colony right now, and wouldn't mind some snow, to be honest. The engine's just about running on her own without any help from anything else if I just leave the cover off. Did you know they tie down ships out here so they don't float off? Flight schools are under this huge flapping tents to cut down on the kids having their stuff take off.

I see you made a friend. Possibly? Excellent. Well, chaos, less excellent, but still.

It's good to see you around, Grantaire.

I am the black sheep of the family, but I'm sure relations are abnormal, after all.

XOXO,
Redeye

Not going to lord it over you.

I, on the other hand, ignored your good advice, but I'm taking it up now. Please say Darius is not being his usual charming self.

Chastened with merbromin,

Hello James' Cousin.

Turkish, really? Been around the baths yet?

They've got a fairly nice set of them done in the finest of concrete bunkers. Not terribly beautiful up top, but definitely better than the noon sun.

There was an incident involving bees, and I ended up being forced to flee with my trousers to the adjacent building. Pleasant older woman who was a seamstress. And yes, I paid for the curtains, James.

And no, it didn't involve the law. Even got my jacket back and everything.

Still, I think I'll pass on the baths for a while. Shaving out here is quite a thing if you pay money for it. Not sure I'm entirely comfortable with it either.

I'm not sure if this is the dread "and it was gigantic and convinced it had to be behind my glasses" sort of horror story, or the saga of suddenly ventilated clothing.

Both are pretty bad, mind you. I used to do some night flights with a guy who wore glasses. When we did places with landing lights, he'd get mothed. Moth attacked? Can you verb that?
